About Grace’s Mahali

Grace’s Mahali is to be a place of support, creative blossoming, and commitment
amidst a sea of ongoing and increasing challenges that we will see and feel inside
collapse.
In 2009, I wrote on a napkin what I needed and wanted. It was food,
shelter, and a place to create.

Nadine's House to Grace's Mahali

Mahali is Swahili for Place, and I chose it because someone else has Grace Place.
Can you believe that? The name change came from simply laying my mother to
rest; a luxury Black women do not get to have. It’s my turn to carry on the legacy of
nurture and love.

  • As I rebrand and get things in line with the overall mission for artists' sustainability
through food and reconnection to art. I am reminded of where I have come from.
While teaching young adults life skills, I am building a residency program for artists
to rest and a program that elevates my goal of celebration in creating space to
learn the best way you can retain. More information is needed on the name change
and how you can help. We seek to establish strong roots for the next generation
through mentorship, hands-on experience, and craft. As I tend to this vision with
my team, I am reminded of the tough road I traveled in pursuit of my musical
career without these life-saving tools. I am proud and infusing the best of my love
and guidance into this communal project for the future of radical hospitality and
    rest for the creative population.
